I bet he wouldn’t have said as much if only christians, atheists, jews or other non-muslims were the ones killed or hurt.

And that being said, why would Muslims target other Muslims? Can anyone say that religion had nothing to do with this when it is patently obvious that it was all about petty and ridiculous theological differences?

The solution can only be found in reason, logic and the requirement of evidence to justify beliefs and actions. It will never be found in religious moderation since moderation is just a a few verse interpretations away from fundamentalism.
