Righteous and just? It seems that depends on the definition of righteous and just one is using. Is it righteous and just to defend yourself when attacked? Is western culture an attack on traditional Islamic values? Is American incursion and current presence in Muslim lands an attack on Muslims worldwide?
I don’t agree with it such Osama-Bin-Laden-like “logic”, of course. My point is that neither the fundamentalists nor the moderates can claim to have the correct knowledge of what Islam actually teaches. The same book that one uses to promote peace is the same one another uses to promote death and violence. Since we do not need the Quran to be righteous and just but at the same time the Quran is used to justify violence and hate, why waste our time with it? Why think that it has special moral guidance that we could not figure out for ourselves when we know for a fact that such a thing is not true? ( I say the same thing about the bible or any other self proclaimed holy book)
Like Christians and Jews before, the fact that there are many interpretations and sects of Islamic tought and practice show that there is nothing divine about it. If it had an actual divine origin there should be no confusion about what the religion actually means. Isn’t god supposed to perfect and all powerful?
All Islamic practices and interpretations cannot be all right at the same time since they make contradicting claims of each other. But it is easy to realize that they can all be wrong. A critical look at Islam will confirm that is just the case.
Take care. In reason:
