And just to clarify, I did not propose the 3 interpretations as positions I actually put forth or believe in. I was just trying to be sarcastic and/or quasi funny. Things in which I obviously failed at.

Pete is right, religion is not the only thing that motivates violence. If religion disappeared tomorrow, violence would still exist. Still, in regards to Islamic terrorism, religion is the #1 motivating factor (See Quran 8:39 for details). That was my only point.
